1.         The World Health Organization(WHO), which sent investigators to China to look into its handling of SARS, says it is waiting for details on when and where individual patients were infected.

2.         Asian leaders adopted a six-point plan to control the SARS outbreaks, which have killed more than 350 people and infected 5,500 in nearly 30 countries.

3.         Asian health ministers agreed Saturday on measures to slow the spread of SARS, including more screening at international departure points, a bar on travelers showing symptoms of the virus and a requirement for health declaration forms for visitors from affected countries.

4.         With China's national death toll standing at 131, fear of the disease deepened in the capital, which has been worst affected, and the city's government ordered all cinemas, theaters, karaoke bars and Internet cafes to close.

5.         Most former exiles wanted a lesser American role, arguing that only Iraqis should rule the country, while those who had not left Iraq said they wanted more US supervision because they did not trust those who returned after Saddam Hussein's fall.

6.         Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao(家寶) said on Tuesday the deadly SARS virus was going to be a long-term problem, as Asian leaders hammered out plans to fight outbreaks that have killed hundreds and threatened economic growth.

7.         Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou yesterday urged those who visited Ho Ping hospital prior to April 15 and have SARS-like symptoms such as high fevers to contact the health authority immediately instead of seeking private treatment.

8.         U.S. troops killed 13 Iraqi demonstrators west of Baghdad overnight. Witnesses told Reuters (路透社)the troops opened fire on several hundred unarmed demonstrators(手無寸鐵的示威者) who had been demanding the soldiers vacate a school (which) they were using as a barracks.(營房)

9.         Canada, the only country outside Asia, where people have died of the virus that has no cure, also promised tougher steps, including screening at its airports.

10.      Along with pencils and books, children in Singapore must now pack thermometers in their school bags so they can check their temperatures twice a day to detect SARS.
