So, Wei-Ming, have you eaten?

No, not yet. To be honest with you, I still couldn’t figure out the meal time.

Well, the meal time is listed downstairs on the bulletin board. Why don’t you go and check it out?

I will, thanks. Can I cook in the room?

No, not in your room. But you can use the kitchen down the hall to heat up something.

Maybe the instant noodles is the solution!

You know what? I went to the cafeteria for the first time today. The place was packed!

If your tuition includes room and board, why spend extra money on meals? Also, it’s much time-saving of one eats in between classes than going out.

How come some students make sandwiches or bring fruit out after they finish eating?

That’s for the midnight snack. It’s a common practice here, especially during the mid-term and final weeks.

We are going to have a get-together this Saturday. Nothing serious, just shooting the breeze. Want to come?

Sure. Should I bring anything?

Beer if you insist.

That reminds me, how come college students drink so much beer?

Beer is more like a soft drink to most American youths, you know like coke. But you don’t see us drink hard liquor, do you?

That’s true.

Originally, I thought living in the dorm would be a drag!

And now?

Actually, it’s not that bad at all. There is a gym, fitness center, student hall, store, laundromat and library. One really doesn’t need to leave the campus unless it’s absolutely necessary.

But, change of scenery once in a while, I mean, to get a feel of what’s going on outside will do you good, too.

I couldn’t agree with you more.
